Cannabidiol?

Phytocannabinoid?

CBD has grown in popularity in recent years and interest in the compound has skyrocketed. Yet, what exactly is CBD?

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a phytocannabinoid. It is one of at least 113 cannabinoids discovered in the cannabis plant and is non-intoxicating and non-psychoactive in its effects. So with CBD you can experience the helpful and transformative properties of the cannabis plant without the feeling of being high.

What is the Endocannabanoid System?

The Endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a biological system composed of Endocannabinoids (cannabinoids produced by the body) and the receptors they bind to, cannabinoid receptor type 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor type 2 (CB2). The Endocannabinoid system has been shown to be involved in the regulation of a number of physiological and cognitive processes throughout the human body. These include regulating your anti-inflammatory response, immune system, appetite, mood, anxiety levels, sleep schedule and more. The ECS helps with keeping your body in homeostasis.

What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are a group of chemical compounds produced in the body. These compounds can also be found outside the body, mostly not exclusively, in the cannabis plant and other botanical sources like Echinacea. There are at least 113 cannabinoids; the two most studied are Cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannibinol (THC).

Do Ava Wellness products contain THC?

Yes, our Full-Spectrum products fall within the federally mandated THC limit of less than 0.3% THC by dry weight.

Will I test positive on a drug test if I use your products?

Our FULL-SPECTRUM CBD products are derived from legal hemp; it complies with federally mandated THC limit of less than 0.3% THC by dry weight. While this percentage is small, and a positive test result is unlikely, it does not mean that a positive test result is impossible.

What is your CBD made from?

Our CBD products are derived from legal hemp. Our processors extract CBD from hemp using ethanol. An ethanol extraction preserves the original plant profile. In addition to the cannabinoids, it retains terpenes, chlorophyll and fatty acids. The extraction then undergoes additional purification and distillation processes that result in high quality CBD oil, free of all solvents.

What do you test for?

All of our products undergo a high-level testing protocol for heavy metals, pesticides, potency, residual solvents and quality analysis before being brought to market. This is to ensure the products meet our demands for quality and safety. Every batch undergoes multiple rounds of testing, what is tested for varies slightly depending on what stage of the process that the product is in. Every bulk shipment of hemp undergoes an initial test for heavy metals, pesticides and potency. Post-extraction, the raw oil undergoes a second test for these same items and is also tested for residual solvents. It is important to note that while the solvent used (cane ethanol) is the same as what you find in alcoholic drinks and is safe for human consumption, we test for residual solvents to ensure that the oil that makes it into our products is free from any residual ethanol. If the raw CBD oil is refined into CBD isolate, a final test for potency and residual solvents is conducted. All final batches are tested for potency and quality analysis by a third-party laboratory. The “Lab Results” tab on each product page shows the results for each batch. The Lab Results section is updated as new batches are received.

Do you test for pesticides and heavy metals?

All Ava Wellness products undergo multiple rounds of lab testing for heavy metals and pesticides. The results of these tests can be found under the “Lab Results” tab of each individual product page. Our processors adhere to the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia (AHP) monograph on cannabis for quality control standards and analysis. They test every bulk shipment of hemp for heavy metals and pesticides, and then test the raw oil again in the post-extraction phase. All final batches are sent to a third-party laboratory for a final test for potency and quality analysis. After the oil undergoes their process we test each batch individually to ensure you receive the quality that we advertise.
